To save the public from a lifetime of obesity our Government has found the super cure, "12p" on soft drinks. This will "save" 180,000 sugar hungry individuals and put £millions in the governments pocket.
If only they had thought of this 50 years ago I would not have been imprisoned in my chubby adolescence.
Maybe 12p on fruit pies, cream cakes, and children's medicine could save so many more. Sugar is everywhere.
It is the 'magic wand' that the corporate World uses to hook us into a lifetime of servitude.
This cash gathering exercise is, no doubt, a pilot to future planned efforts to scoop more sugery revenue.
This is one of many "schemes" that are either in place or are yet to come, designed to suggest the illusion that we are being saved from, "ourselves".
Twenty years ago we were told to buy diesel engined cars, as they were less toxic to the environment, cheaper to run and offered a greater value for money. Now, we have "all" bought diesel we are told to buy petrol as they are less toxic to the environment, cheaper to run and offer greater value for money. WHAT??
When so much effort, and cash is being put into renewable energy, electric, solar, wind etc etc, how can we accept that this is not yet another scam to ring the last few "coppers" from our pockets, with at the end of the next twenty years we are told to buy "electric", "hydrogen" or maybe NUCLEAR?
If the public actually we're given genuine value in their purchasing power, there would be little need for the public to buy "cheap" unhealthy consumables.
The "value" of a healthy population cannot be over estimated, so why are we being offered foods which provide risk to our health? The answer is, "Corporate Profit". This kind of profit cares little for population health, nor does it search for healthy alternatives UNLESS they show an extra 50% profit to their margin, irrespective of whether they are cheaper to produce or not.
As far as I am concerned the Weasels have, well and truly, been popped.
Beware the sugary alternatives and use your "Common Sense" and you will be happy. Happiness cannot be bought for 12p and our Government should look at the 50's for their food values. Population health is determined by what foods they can afford, it should be "common-sense" that the population should be able to afford healthy foods. Yet, health seems to be a commodity and available only to those with the income to afford it.
This cannot be right, can it?
